Mega cat formed in 2020 from weekly bonfire jam sessions led by Aaron Benson with Kim West and Ryan Devlin; guitarist Dave Dederer (Presidents of the United States of America) and percussionist Jacob Whinihan later joined. Their self-titled debut was released on Share It Music in February 2024, earned top-20 NACC adds and top-10 KEXP airplay, and the band recorded a KEXP in-studio session. They selected SMASH as the beneficiary for Share It Music’s nonprofit revenue-share model.
