Ray Skjelbred is a veteran American jazz pianist and bandleader active since the early 1960s who has recorded solo and ensemble albums and performed at numerous U.S. jazz festivals and clubs. He earned an M.A. in English, taught for many years and retired from teaching in 2007, after which he continued to record and tour. His 2017 documentary "Piano Jazz – Chicago Style!" won the New York Jazz Film Festival historical/documentary award.
