About

Etudes and Devotions;Seattle-based composer Samuel Adams boasts an impressive international profile. He has been commissioned by the San Francisco Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Australian Chamber Orchestra, Chicago Symphony and many more. The season’s first Octave 9 Series program features some of Adams’ recent close collaborations: pianist Conor Hanick performs his new Etudes, and percussionist Mari Yoshinaga joins a quartet of our orchestra musicians for the U.S. premiere and Seattle Symphony co-commission Devotions, integrating electronics with percussion and strings in a concert exploring architectural and resonant multi-movement forms. You can immerse yourself in more of Samuel Adams’ work over on the Benaroya Hall mainstage the following week. His new piano concerto commissioned by the San Francisco Symphony, No Such Spring, will be performed by the Seattle Symphony on October 22 & 24 in the Symphonic Series.
