Shady Bottom is a gritty, down-to-earth six-piece instrumental groove party. Lead by two horns with a rhythm section consisting of drums, bass, guitar, and a real gen-u-ine Hammond B3 organ, Shady Bottom keeps the deep funk deep-down in the pocket. As one fan put it: “This is the finest in bass-heavy funk.”
The group has been performing throughout the Pacific Northwest since 2011 and focuses on laying down danceable, party-oriented rare funk & soul from the late 60s and 70s as well as a handful of originals inspired from that era. Influences such as James Brown, Syl Johnson, Booker T & the MGs, and Charles Wright run deep through their songs and set.
